THE BARISTA'S STORY

Nice to meet you, I'm Ifat.

Software Engineer crafting clean code and clear stories.

From a 41 to a 99

I believe that anyone can learn anything. Cup of Code grew from that belief: a desire to create a space where the overwhelming parts of the tech world are broken down into something manageable, one cup at a time.

My journey into engineering wasn’t a straight line. After failing my first year—including a 41 in Data Structures—I realized I had to learn how to learn.

I stopped just transcribing lectures and started connecting dots, eventually creating summaries so effective that I'd walk into the library to find half my class studying from them. I eventually returned to earn a 99 in that same subject.

Today, I just love the process of learning and the challenge of bringing a new idea to life, whether through code or blog posts.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Engineering at Scale

My career began at Motorola Solutions, where working on an global climate crisis platform opened my eyes to the world of international collaboration. That eventually inspired me to move to Dublin in 2020 to join Amazon, where I'm part of the team building the resilient, Tier‑1 payment security systems that power billions of transactions annually.

What I Write About

Tech & Beyond

This space is a collection of my constant curiosities. You’ll find a blend of technical deep-dives, simplified guides, and stories from my journey. I write about everything I’m currently exploring or find interesting—documenting the lessons learned along the way.

Giving back to the community

Teaching the Next Generation

I spent nearly five years volunteering as an instructor, eventually becoming the Program Director for the 3rd-year certification. I wrote the curriculum and designed the projects, from creating a tic-tac-toe game to working on the same Git repository.

I taught them as future professionals from day one, focusing on a well-rounded engineering experience that went far beyond syntax. This includes Peer QA sessions and a "Tiny Lectures" series, where the students took the lead in teaching high-level concepts.
